"Who through FAITH subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: ..." Heb. 11:33-35a
The underlined parts really got my attention today!
I'm thinking here especially about waging "spiritual warfare" for our families. It is done by faith.....Even though we are weak, we can be strong through Christ and His power in our lives to pray and wage this "spiritual warfare"! We can turn back the demonic influences (the aliens) through prayer, and we can obtain those promises from the Word of God.
It especially "hit" me that "women received their dead (spiritually dead??? as well) raised to life! How encouraging!
I wonder why it says "women"???? Do you think it's because women are naturally more emotional and "receiving their dead back to life" is usually a more demonstrative thing for them? Do you think because women are usually more emotional that this leads them to weep and pray for their loved ones sometimes more fervently than the men would do? After all, for many women the close bond with each of their children through babyhood, through nursing, through homeschooling, etc. really creates a very deep bond...many times deeper than what could be created with the father.
